Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has been attacked on social media for campaigning for Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Edo.
She was seen in a viral video begging Nigerians to vote for Okpebholo at a rally.
She also assured the crowd that the APC gubernatorial candidate will bring positive changes to the state.
鈥淎re you not tired? No light, water, healthcare, security and good roads. If you will vote for senator Monday, raise your hand,鈥� she said.
鈥溾�o when you get to that field early in the morning, vote for Monday, vote for APC, vote for the broom.鈥�
Nigerians after watching the video, lashed out at her for supporting the ruling party despite widespread economic hardship, questioning her decision.
鈥淢ercy Johnson is just a cheap opportunistic agbero with zero class and zero morality in my opinion. Imagine supporting blabbing Tinubu and now also supporting Illiterate Monday Okpebholo of all people. Talent is really not enough,鈥� an X user wrote.
Okpebholo is running against Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party (LP) among others, in the September 21 election.
He also went viral for saying he would provide Edo residents 鈥渨ith insecurity鈥� if elected.
